We’re currently seeking an Assistant Director of Laundry Services to lead our Housekeeping team at 1 HOTEL HANALEI BAY, a natural people person with an analytical mind, who can do everything from streamline a bumpy process to stock a supply cart.   The Laundry Manager is a natural at identifying challenges, makes reasonable and insightful assumptions, and motivates everyone on the team by showing them the rewards of providing outstanding service.    Inside tip:  Leading by example may lead you to incredible growth opportunities.   POSITION OVERVIEW   Provides leadership, direction, and motivation to the team members in the Laundry Department, ensuring the successful execution of daily laundry operations and daily productivity for the team.   PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   · Developing and putting into operation the current system and technical advancement in the field of laundry operations. · Understanding of PH levels and chemicals involved formulating washing formula for stained loads. · Ensuring the washing of linen and uniforms as per standard. · Respond to emergency situations using information contained in MSD sheets. · Identify linen abuse and damage. · Maintenance and upkeep of all laundry equipment. · Coordinating with the Engineering Department about their routine maintenance of the equipment · Execute Monthly Linen, Terry, Bathrobes and Uniform Inventory · Preparing Annual Laundry Budget · Develop new methods for increasing laundry efficiency. · Coordinate with the maintenance team for outstanding repairs of machinery. · Overall controlling and supervision of the Department. · Training and coordination with supporting Departments. · Record and monitor laundry costs. · Make reports and recommendations when required. · Oversee the laundry equipment preventive maintenance program. · Approve distribution of linen to guestrooms, Food & Beverage department areas, spa and culinary · Direct all Laundry staff. · Approve the Laundry team member schedule. · Organizing training for the staff. · Hire and train new laundry staff. · Plan and provide recommendations for uniform replacement. · Ensure the uniform room inspects all uniforms daily for replacement and damage. · Conduct weekly departmental meetings with the team. · Ensure laundry status is communicated to Housekeeping and Hotel Leadership in a timely and efficient manner. · Communicate the impact of the department’s operations on the property’s operational and financial goals and objectives and achieve or exceed budgeted goals. · Inventory stock to ensure adequate supplies and ensure all team members have proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms. · Communicate areas that need attention to staff and follow-up to ensure understanding. · Supervise daily laundry shift operations and ensure compliance with all Laundry & Housekeeping Department policies, standards, and procedures. · Ensure regular, ongoing communication occurs (e.g. daily rallies, divisional/departmental meetings, attendance at regular and ad hoc hotel meetings). Emphasize guest satisfaction during all departmental meetings and focus on continuous improvement. · Schedule team members to business demands and track team member time and attendance. · Manage staffing levels to ensure that operational needs and financial objectives are met. · Observe team member service behaviors and provide ongoing feedback. · Ensure team member recognition is taking place on all shifts and participate in all team member recognition programs. Work with revenue management to develop effective revenue management strategies and set aggressive goals; participate in sales strategy meetings and use financial expertise and analytical models to evaluate mix of transient and group revenue and provide pricing and inventory recommendations to increase market share and attain growth and profit goals. • Help enhance the team’s business skills. Educate department heads on sales and profit maximization and cost control; provide ongoing analytical decision support & tools to ensure revenue goals are met and opportunities are identified and addressed. • Use financial analysis and market information to anticipate needs, identify business/financial issues, and recommend actions to maximize financial return. Ensure a strong accounting & operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability. Ensure compliance with standard and local operating procedures, and local regulations. • Leverage technology and effectively use information systems and tools to create operational efficiency and generate information to support decision-making. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of property based systems. • Oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes and ensure compliance with SOPs; make sure appropriate corrections are made. • Reconcile balance sheet and ensure account balances are supported by appropriate supporting documentation in accordance with SOPs. Ensure all issues in the balance sheet are disclosed and compliance with certification is timely. • Ensure that the P&L is accurate and statements are delivered to appropriate individuals in a timely manner. • Effectively manage property working capital and cash flow; identify key projects and manage associated capital expenditure funds for product improvement and increased revenue potential. • Create the annual operating budget for the property and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for property managers. • Analyze financial data and market trends and produce accurate forecasts that enable operations to react to changes in the business; monitor and take steps to enhance forecast accuracy; facilitate critique meetings to review information with leadership team. • Ensure tax rates used for sales/use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and/or accrued.
